Sleep? Oh yeah, I knew I forgot something….

Well, I’m back from Arisia. I did a lot of different things, and had a lot of fun. If you want the full report, read on.

So I took friday off from work, picked up Josh and Nomi, and the incredible tons of flyers, and went off to the T. Got to the Con, and then headed up. I signed on as part of the babysitting crew. This was truly a good thing, as it got me free entrance to the Con, free place to crash at night, the ability to be fed at the staff den, a free con T-shirt, and I even got paid 12/hour for the 9 hours I was actually on shift. My first shift was Friday, 12 to 5. We had one kid total. The other shift was Saturday, 6 to 10, where we had five kids, and it turned out to be no sweat whatsoever. So over the weekend I bid on some art (even got a few pieces), bought some games, played some games, went to a number of panels, meandered and wandered, sat and talked with people, stayed up way too late, woke up too early, and had a lot of fun. In particular, I went to two really good panels, one by Andrew Looney on game design, and the other by an MIT researcher on the role of games in education, and their work on educational video games. I bought four icehouse stashes and the book ‘playing with pyramids’ to go with it. I also got two pieces of art, one a very lovely matted print, and the other a framed piece of Epson print art. Come by some time to see them. I studiously avoided buying any more books. Well, that’s the rough outline of Arisia. I’m still tired, so I’m going to go away now.
