So I was home last weekend, visiting with the folks, and stuff. While I was there I changed the showerhead, replaced the towelbar, and put in a new dimmer switch for the dining room. Home Depot is fun, even if I would have gone with a different model dimmer switch, were it up to me. That was pretty good. And Amanda came down and met the folks. We all watched ‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding’ which was a good movie (I’d not seen it before), even if it was all about the joke inherent in the stereotype of a Greek family. Then we played a game of Phase 10, but Amanda had to leave in the middle.
It also being my brother’s birthday, I had gotten a slightly used Gameboy Advance (I knew the previous owner, no worries) to gift him with. I also picked up a couple of new games for him. Got a little hooked on it, so I picked up a spiffy new GBA (SP) for myself, and a couple of used games. [Odd, I got the new gameboy and the used games, he got the used gameboy and the new games….]
Let me say that Castlevania is still a great game. If you haven’t ever played it, go do so.
Anyhow, I’d also picked up a ‘krazy racer’ game, which was wacky and nifty for all of, oh, 10 minutes. It then ceased to be amusing and began to be a bland racing game. Mario Kart is way better. So, being that EBX (Electronics Boutique to us old players) has a nice policy where you can return a used game within 14 days for full credit, I returned it. Very nice of them, it let’s one ‘rent’ a game and try it out, keeping it if you like it. Anyhwho, I returned it, and used that towards the purchase of a new game (gasp!) which isn’t actually new, just new as in not used. It’s an old game by Blizzard called The Lost Vikings, which they rereleased for GBA. This was put out by Blizzard before they put out the first Warcraft. Back then you bought the game because it looked nifty, not because it was a game with a title (Warcraft, say), or even more true these days, because it is a Blizzard game. It’s a really cool game. Play it too. It’s a nifty puzzle game where you control three different vikings with different abilities, and you have to get them all from level to level. Themactically similar to lemmings.
Ran into solipsistnation while browsing The GameSpot. He was waiting for jehanna, and was then going to go pick up an amp.
While I was at the mall I saw that the Earthbound Trading store was going out of business, so I stepped inside to take a look. Ended up walking out with a drum and a small soapstone sculpture. Yeah, I have a drum, how do you like that?
