Ok, enough of the 1950’s radio style dialogue, and on to the meat and bones of this entry.

First up, Clash of the Ash. This event set the precedence for rainy weekends. I rather suspect that for the entirety of summer the only nice weather will be when I’m cooped up in the cave I like to call an office. Nontheless, it was a lot of fun. I got to sit around a bit, and taught myself a few stitches to use with embroidery (working on the Queen’s Favor Project). Got to watch people running around in the mud, swinging sticks mostly carefully. The only major injuries were on our side, but weren’t debilitating. We were down 0-2 at the first half, but rallied back to tie at 2-2 by the end. I think one of the reasons why we didn’t continue the match to see who would break the tie was because it was turning into more of a game of water polo than hurley. Very quickly everybody did waht they could to pack up everything and get it put away. Meanwhile Jasmina was the real hero here by convincing a tufts officer to let us in to the fieldhouse so we could the feast indoors. It was a delicious feast, although the main attraction of duck left a bit to be desired. One of the soggiest events I’ve been to, but well enjoyed.

The following weekend was Intercon Gazebo. You know what, forget writing about it here, I’m going to have to make a whole entry for that one alone.

And most recently, Vineland Raids II. I signed onto this event because a good friend of mine was going to be receiving a very major award for service, and one I think he well deserved. Of course, that means he’s now received 2 of the 3 highest honors in the kingdom, but unless he suddenly becomes an elite fighter (amuses self with notion) we don’t have to worry about him getting the trifecta. The real draw is that there was going to be a celebratory party after the handing of the award, and that was going to be a fine time to spend a fun time with friend, food, and good spirits, of more than one definition. Again, the weather resembled a cold shower, only this time there were more bugs to enjoy. Going across the sagamore bridge is always fun (sarcasm) but it wasn’t so bad this day. Sorry, I’m jumping around a bit. Anyhow, the long of it was that the award ceremony was delayed by about an hour, and then ran on for three hours, so there was no opportunity for me to fete the recipients; I and Asdr83 had to return home and rest up as we both had things to accomplish on Sunday. It was good to go, and it was good to see people, and it was good to be out in the woods (ye gads I hadn’t realized how overdue I was for a dose of nature), and it was good to sit and relax and get a lot of crossstitch done while sitting through the ceremony, but I really missed out on the big hurrah. Fortunately, there’s the opportunity for some of that next weekend.
