lebor.net is dead, long live lebor.net!

Here we are with further proof that occasionally I just can’t leave well enough alone.

Why change this site when what I had was working just fine? For several reasons: e107 (the old site engine) is a full blown CMS, complete with multiple authors, download sections, multicolumn layouts, chat, etc, etc. It’s really designed for a community oriented site. Let’s face it, I was never _really_ using it as a community site. At it’s core, this web site is a blog. So I’ve gone with a tool more suited to that purpose: WordPress (see the link in the column on the side). WordPress has blog specific features (pingback, trackback, XMLRPC, post by e-mail, etc) that make it a lot more suitable for single person blogging. And in the past year I haven’t seen too many changes coming out of e107. A lot of bug fixes, stability enhancements, etc. But it still has way too much for a simple site, and recently, they’ve been having a ton of problems with their web site being hammered, the development team changing personnel, etc. (next page…)
