There is a Season, turn, turn, turn
Driving in to work today I couldn’t help but enjoy the lovely folliage colors along Rte. 30. I love this time of year, with the colors, the foods, the slight chill, the smell of smoke from fireplaces. Of course, with all the rain we’ve had, today was the first good opportunity to enjoy the colors.
The weekend was…. exhausting. And completely worth it. For those unaware, I’ve spent much of the past month (or more) stressing, preparing, alienating, and stressing again trying to organize a run of Etherlines: The Morning After, which finally came to fruition this weekend. I’m still behind on sleep, and my legs are starting to grow back, but it was all worth every bit of it. As always, we had a ton of new larpers. As always, we had last minute printing problems. As always, we had radio snafus during the game. As always, players are having a hard time breaking off discussions with each other. Casting seemed to go really well this time, with no one really disliking their character at all, and almost everyone having a great time playing. Looks like we got lucky.
Sunday night, after the gamewrap, we had arranged to go to Franca’s for Dead Dog. They’re normally only open until 9 on Sunday, and most of us didn’t arrive until around then, because of ride issues, coordination concerns, packing everything up, etc. They stayed open late for us, and I made sure everyone was aware of it. I slipped a little something into the owner’s palm as I shook his hand on my way in, and told every to tip well. At 10:30 I ushered everyone out so they could close and so I could go home and sleep. Even with up to two hours of Dead Dog, it wsn’t enough for many people, so I’ve got a minion working to reserve space for Friday the 11th for a Dead Dog Reunion. A little odd, but hey, who am I to complain?
I’m very happy so many had a good time, especially a few I know of who were nervous about larping for the first time. I was sure to plug Intercon F (http://www.intercon-f.org) and I think we may get a few more signups.
Crazy Russian Dreamer!
It’s always interesting to see where art imitates life, and where art sets the standard that life follows. One of the obvious examples is from the original Start Trek, where their communicators predated our own cell phones. Now some people are trying to say that blogging was conceived of by a very forward thinking 19th century Russian Prince who liked to write speculative fiction. http://www.mosnews.com/feature/2005/10/10/bloggingpredicted.shtml
Because I said I would….
Sometimes these little things are fun, or informative, or just a good way to pass a few minutes of time. I don’t normally post these, but what the hey, eh?
Post a comment requesting it, and I will:
1. I’ll respond with something random about you.
2. I’ll tell you what song/movie reminds me of you.
3. I will construct a funny alter ego for you to use if you need to go into hiding.
4. I’ll say something that only makes sense to you and me. (If possible)
5. I’ll tell you my first/clearest memory of you.
6. I’ll tell you what musical instrument you remind me of.
7. I’ll ask you something that I’ve always wondered about you.
8. If I do this for you, you must post this on your journal. Feel free to alter the questions, but keep the spirit, and the number of them.
