Month: May 2004
Winds of change never stop blowing, do they?
So we’re adding a new person to the office. Too bad he’s not a computer tech. he’s the operator. That means that all day long we’ll be treated to the sounds of his phone ringing every 2 minutes, and him just transferring calls around. And I have to give up my desk for that and move to another part of the office….. but I worked long and hard to earn my back corner….
And adding to that, one of the two other techs just walked in and announced that he has tendered his resignation, and is going to New England Conservatory at the end of the month. The biggest reason? Here we support over 4000 computers (plus all the telephone systems, plus… etc) with only three techs that do all the first and second (and sometimes third) tiers of support. There it will be 3 techs as well, but for approximately 400 computers. And that’s it.
Damn, time to go dust off the resume, just in case.
Best Vacation idea Evar.
Spend a week touring castles inthe Czech lands, then spend another week helping to restore one using period tools and period techniques.
Very, very cool.
Three desks down…
From my coworker three desks down, I present to you this little gem:
MIT Hawk Cam
Apparently some hawks have nested outside of MIT and one of those wacky wonders thought to throw a webcam in front of it.
Also thanks to my coworker, I now have to keep an eye out for discs by a group called Qntal.
