Over the top, and into no man’s land…

Thanks to the incredibly productive volunteer army of jducouer, _dragonwolf_, udalrich, jjaynes, belu, lisa, and a flanking effort by shprintzah, last weekend’s preliminary assault to take Fort Maynard went better than expected.  Well enough that asdr83 and I were able to take a leisure day on Mondayand trip up to Cape Ann, where we ate seafood and soft serve, and wandered around Gloucester and Hammond Castle (which, while a lovely place, has all the pros and cons of being a private collection).  As a byproduct of that assault, we discovered that we are within walking distance of Maynard Center, which houses at least one very worthy Thai restaurant.

Thank you.  We couldn’t have accomplished nearly as much without the help of the above seven people.

But we’re not finished.  No, having gained much ground in this trench warfare of a move, it is time that we got over the top and finish it once and for all.  Now comes the heavy lifting, the great ground assault needing the strongest of arms.  Yes, it is time to move the furniture.  We’re renting a truck Saturday morning, and will have it all day.  As with last weekend, the biggest concentrated effort will be at 1:00 pm (but we wouldn’t say no if you could only come earlier or later), so if you haven’t yet pitched in, we’d be very appreciative if you could lend a hand.  We provide food and drink to those who help, and as we found out last weekend, that can be very tasty food indeed.

I know some of you (natbudin, captainecchi [and electric_d_monk?], bgabin, and perhaps others [_dragonwolf_ again?]) have already given offers of help, so volunteers are in good company.  As the maxim goes, many hands make light work, and given that it is furniture, let’s make it as light as we can, no?

Once more into the breach…

One more gentle reminder, oh good fellow.
We are moving to Maynard, and our first assault will be this weekend. Join us on Saturday. We’ll marshall in Framingham at 1:00 ( -PM-. Please don’t wake me up) and charge from there. Can’t be a part of the vanguard? Join us when you can. We’ll still be at it Sunday, and the following weekend we’ll rent a truck and bring our siege weapons to Maynard.

Again, Saturday, 9/5, 1pm, Framingham.

Moving, redux

Oh frabulous joy, you lucky, happy volunteers.  You asked for details on when moving help would be desired, and I shall provide them.

First, there are two chances to help, and you may choose one or the other, or if you are feeling the camaraderie, both!

Opportunity one: Labor Day weekend.  On both the 5th and the 6th we’ll be making the major push to move the bulk of the ‘stuff’.  Everything boxed, everything that goes without boxes, etc.  Here truly many hands will make light work.  Cars with cargo space are also somewhat useful.

Opportunity two: The following weekend.  On Saturday the 12th we’ll be renting a truck to move the furniture parts, the stuff way to big for boxes, the stuff that other stuff goes in, etc.  Strong backs, stout hearts, and burly arms will be cherished and sung of by skalds for generations to come.

Of course, if you’ve time on neither weekend, please feel free to come help us pack boxes.  The work is made easy when being social in the process.

To repeat from part one, we offer food and drink, and thanks in droves.  Especially the thanks.
